A new term that has entered the vocabulary of many people working in an office or
home-office. Cloud services represent, first and foremost, a radical simplification of communication between employees and more efficient company operations.

Cloud is essentially a space on a large-capacity server reserved specifically for the needs of a particular client. This cloud then serves as a fairly common FTP storage, but with the possibility of broader support from applications and additional services. In practice, the cloud proves to be particularly useful in eliminating the need to send the same file to multiple people via email. In this article, we will introduce several such cloud services that every IT worker, technical department manager, graphic designer or freelancer should know and possibly consider using.

 Google Drive

The Drive service is one of the most popular and reliable. Each user gets 15 GB of space for free, and the service allows direct playback or even editing of files. This is an excellent solution, especially for companies that work with a large number of documents and need to edit them quickly (for example, shared reports in Excel). In addition to standard uploading to the server, the Drive service also offers integration with Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS. Google Drive then appears in the system as another disk and you can move files to it as easily as when copying files within the system. Files stored in Google Drive can be shared either only with specific people or with anyone who has a link to the file. One file can be up to 10 GB in size, and for a monthly fee, the cloud space can be increased to 200 TB.

drive.google.com

 Dropbox

One of the best cloud services in the world, according to many even the best. Dropbox is fast, reliable and with a little effort will offer a lot of extra space. The basic free package of 2 GB can be expanded either by gradually inviting colleagues to the service, by recommendation or by connecting to social networks, or for a relatively small fee it allows you to expand the space from 50 to 100 GB. For companies, there is a paid Teams program for five or more users, each of whom gets up to 200 GB.

The Dropbox environment is very simple, sometimes even trivially minimalist. This is also why Dropbox is so popular. Files stored in Dropbox can be shared either with specific people only or with anyone who has a link to the file. The service, like Google Drive, can be integrated with the system on a computer or smartphone and documents can be moved to it very conveniently for sharing.

dropbox.com

 Boxing

If you use Sony Xperia smartphones in your company or personally, the Box service will provide you with up to 50 GB of space completely free of charge and without time limits. If you do not use Sony Xperia, you will receive 10 GB for free and additional gigabytes for an additional fee. There is also a Business package for companies with a monthly fee of €12 and space of up to 1 TB. The Box service is just as reliable as the previous two, extremely fast and secure, can be integrated with the system on your computer and offers internal applications for advanced content management. Depending on the tools provided and the size of the storage, they are divided into the Personal, Business and Enterprise categories. For companies and their efficient operations, it may be interesting to assign labels (tags) to uploaded files, which improve their clarity. In the free version, one file can have a maximum size of 100 MB, in the paid version this maximum increases to 1 GB.

box.com

 Skydrive

Microsoft is also trying to be a leader not only in the offline space, but also in the online one. It is not yet able to cope well with the new user behavior closely related to the use of Internet services, but it is trying. One of the proofs of this effort is the Skydrive service, which works on the same principle as all other clouds. Skydrive offers up to 7 GB of space for free for any use, has a built-in photo gallery and can cooperate with the Office Web Apps web office suite. You can share files via email invitation, direct link and also social networks. For additional fees from 8 to 74 € per year, this space can be expanded from 20 to 200 GB.

In the Skydrive environment, you can create your own folders, files, and upload your own. Skydrive also allows you to create documents directly in the browser, just like Google Drive, but with all the features known from the MS Office environment.

skydrive.com

 Cloud.
