At the aforementioned exhibition in Pie\u0161\u0165any, among the many polished vintage cars, we were also attracted by elegant Packards, especially the model 38.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Packard luxury cars are a relic of the past. The past we only know from black and white photographs and period short films. That&#039;s why these powerful vehicles have an unmistakable charm and elegance that even premium manufacturers can&#039;t match.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Packard cars have a not very long, but rather a varied and rich past. In a very short time they became representatives of prestige, high social status and first-class taste. The first car with the Packard brand came out of production in 1899 as a product of the Packard Electric Company. Its founders were brothers William Doud Packard and James Ward Packard, who decided after the initial success of their car to establish another company exclusively for the purpose of building cars \u2013 the Ohio Automobile Company. This company was finally renamed the Packard Motor Car Company in 1902, which created the basis for the production of the most luxurious car in the world at that time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0Size, power, luxury, high selling price, exceptional technical reliability and conservative elegant design. These features determined the immodest sales of Packard vehicles, which became typical of the American elite, but also of statesmen and even underworld bosses, real gangsters. The Packard Twelve Sedan model from 1934 was also owned by the famous Al Capone. The technical specialty of the car company was the use of an in-line eight-cylinder engine even at a time when other manufacturers of large vehicles began using V8 engines - those with a V-shaped cylinder arrangement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Packard offered at the time of its greatest glory a large number of vehicles divided into model series and classes, using a large number of design variants. A large number of model series were also produced as a classic sedan (at that time with a different design than today), Touring and also as a Convertible cabriolet. The sum of all vehicles, including custom ones, is astonishing - Packard produced up to 1553 vehicle types from 1899 to 1958. The first was the now collectible and extremely valuable Packard Model A and the last was the Packard Series 58L in the Station Wagon version.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nDuring World War II, the Packard Motor Car Company shifted its focus from automobile production to aircraft engine production. Packard obtained a license to produce the Merlin V-1650 engine from Rolls-Royce, the then and current leader in large engine production, and sold it with great success. The Merlin engine was used in both American and British aircraft. Although World War II was an incredible disruption to the world economy and resulted in a prolonged period of setbacks, Packard found that the period was profitable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0The war ended in 1945, and for Packard it meant the end of a very successful time. The company returned to the production of large luxury cars, but the demand for them was no longer as great as expected. The period that meant a new beginning for humanity meant the beginning of the end for Packard. Despite the fact that since 1946 Packard had produced up to 146 car models, it could not find customers for them. In 1954, Packard Motor Car Company merged with Studenbaker to improve its financial situation and the cars were renamed Packardbaker. The last car produced, the 58L, in 1958, meant the end of the brand, whose cars are now among the top in the world of vintage cars.
