The Škoda Rapid Spaceback cannot be compared to the basic Rapid, despite sharing the same model name. Škoda is creating a category for itself.

Many experts question whether this classification reflects reality, but after experience with the vehicle we must admit that the ambitions of the Rapid Spaceback are in line with the practical potential of the vehicle. The compact version of the Rapid is built on a hybrid platform (the same as the VW Polo and the older Octavia), which determines the width of the vehicle at 1,705 mm. However, at 4,304 mm in length, it certainly does not lose and even surpasses its serious competitors. The luggage compartment volume of up to 415 liters is a very representative figure, for which the vehicle designers certainly do not have to be ashamed, but compared to the Rapid, this space is smaller by a full 135 liters. However, these values are only paper parameters and always depend on real experience with the car - and that is great. By folding the rear seats, this space can be increased to an impressive capacity of 1,380 liters.
The Rapid Spaceback is designed for a wide range of customers, from younger ones interested in dynamic driving to older generations who like the size of the Fabia Combi but not its appearance and marketing.
The design of the vehicle, similar to the appearance of the current generation of the Octavia model line, has the potential to attract even people who have not shown interest in the Boleslav-based car manufacturer until now.
The modern design also affects the interior, which is surprising with an excellent level of detail, materials that are pleasant to the touch (although it is still plastic), the fit of individual elements with a minimum space reserve and a number of small storage spaces. The supporter of modern technology has also not been ignored, and in the Rapide Spaceback you will find a collection of multimedia and communication systems, a visually attractive processing of needle indicators with a monochrome inverse display behind the steering wheel and an audio system that immerses you in music with an emphasis on its deeper components. Of course, one cannot expect that this Rapid will be comparable to premium cars in terms of acoustics, but the reproduction of music and soundproofing of the cockpit from external noise definitely belong to a higher class.

However, some criticism must fall on the shoulders of the comfort of the rear seats. If you expect a comfortable and comfortable ride for hundreds of kilometers from the Rapid Spaceback, you will be slightly disappointed. The seats, like the Fabia, have a harder and more unyielding character, and the backrest tilt is far from the executive rear seats in limousines. However, the Rapid Spaceback is not expected to be used for extremely long trips, and when driving intercity, it provides at least a standard level of comfort.
Rapid Spaceback does not promise anything that it cannot deliver. It appeals to an active person who likes modern design and a valuable interior, prefers low running costs and trusts an almost domestic brand. After experiencing this vehicle, we can say with a clear conscience that its ambitions are in line with its potential.
